Halloween Special

Happy Friday fantasy footballers!

It’s that time of year again. You have little kids come to your home demanding candy when you know in the back of your mind this country is facing an obesity epidemic. You also have all the tricks, surprises, and scares that come with Halloween. And where do the best scares and tricks come from? Sports. You know Halloween is in session when the Rangers blew their lead, were taken into extra innings, and than lost forcing a Game 7. You also had Case Keenum attempting to be Wilt Chamberlin as he tried to score 100 points against Rice. Im sure he realized he was playing football and not basketball, but 9 TDs and over 500 passing yards is an awesome treat. On Saturday the number 1 and 2 teams wont be playing as they prepare for the National Championship next Saturday but you still have great games such as Clemson/GT in an epic ACC showdown, UGA/UF in a tailgating experience like no where else, MSU goes head to head with Nebraska and Wisconsin is coming off a lose to play against OSU. Things are definitely going to get heated this Saturday. With the Pats coming off a bye-week, they will be focused and ready for a potential playoff matchup against the Steelers. Though the Pats are expected to win, there is a great chance the Steelers defense can control the Pat’s hot offense and pull off a win. Dallas is facing an unstable Eagles team. This is a prime situation for Romo to prove his worth (as he did last game) and ensure a Cowboys victory. I mean Vick threw 4 picks in one game earlier this season, Romo can avoid doing that against those Eagles CBs/Safeties….right? Remember how the Saints played the Colts last week and scored insane amounts of points? Well, they face the Rams this week. Every fantasy owner is now jealous of Brees’ owners. Jacksonville is coming off a MNF win against the Ravens, and look to see if the Texans can fall too. Lions are trying to redeem themselves against Tim Tebow. You have Matt Stafford against Tebow. Oh what an great SEC matchup. Remember, stay safe this weekend and have a great time!

Monday Night Flop

Howdy fantasy footballers!

What a weekend! Atleast for some teams. On Saturday you had FBS giants Oklahoma and Wisconsin fall in dramatics fashion. OU was upset at home by Texas Tech. This Tech team has it out for Big 12 teams trying to go to the National Championship game (think back to Texas). For Wisconsin it was a whole different story. By now all football fans have seen the final desperation TD pass atleast a million times and it still is one of the best plays of the season and this game is a definite top-5. For the SEC, it was a little amusing to see ‘Bama go into halftime tied with Tennessee and have ESPN go on upset alert. Did everyone there forget this is Alabama, and that they might just be toying with Tennessee before they actually start playing? I mean Vanderbilt has a better record in the SEC (and overall) than this Tennessee team. Moving on to the NFL, the Lions dropped their second straight game to the Falcons who are still attempting to find their defensive game going. Oakland has issues of their own as they were held scoreless. But the most surprising game to me was the Browns/Seahawks game. Who would have ever guessed this game would be strictly field goals? Fantasy owners are probably thinking that all they needed to win their matchup was one single TD from the Browns or the Seahawks. I know I sure am. Now time to talk about the scoring attack the Saints put on the Colts. Somewhere Manning was sitting on his couch with a tub of ice cream, crying to himself. What a performance by Brees. Yesterday I was sitting watching the MNF game when it hit me: this was a horrible game. The Ravens are supposed to be a strong AFC team and could have Super Bowl dreams, but what happened last night? Ive heard of flukes but this was just a flop. Did the Ravens forget they had a game on Monday? Or did they just have too much to eat Sunday night watching Brees go off and Romo throw no interceptions. Whatever it was, it was ugly.

Making the Push

Welcome fantasy footballers!

I know all of you are ready for another weekend of football! And to add some more excitement (depending on how you look at it), the World Series has started too. Atleast now on Saturday night, when you are watching the Wisconsin/Mich St. game you can flip back to the World Series during commercial breaks. But speaking of this game, there are a lot of implications for this one game. Wisconsin has been criticized for not having a strong schedule which results in such blow-out performances. Well to all the critics (and the BCS computers), watch his Saturday. Last season these two teams were in a tie for the Big 10 conference, and Wisconsin went on to a BCS bowl game. Expect a great game with a solid offensive performance and strong defensive stops that will determine the winner of this game. Moving on to fantasy, what about that Palmer trade to the Raiders? Did anyone see that coming? Im sure Pryor didn’t. Chances are very high for Palmer to start this Sunday according to many reports. Imagine that. The guy has not played in such a long time, longer than the entire lockout, and comes in on week 7 to start. He must be that good. According to a report Jerome Harrison has a brain tumor. Now am all about keeping players’ health and personal lives out of my conversations, and I do not mean to impose and ask too many questions about Harrison, all I want to say is that some call it luck or fate because ultimately the Lions trying to trade him led to doctors being able to find and diagnose the tumor. Good job Lions. This week we have the Texans (coming off another loss) facing division foe the Titans; winner of this game has a chance to win the division since Manning is still out and the Colts probably arent going to win much. The Lions are coming off their first loss and will face a Falcons team that still has a lot of question marks on defense, offense, special teams, mascots, food prices, etc. And Romo looks to see if he can finally pull off a win as the Rams come rolling in. This game will be fun. Atleast Romo doesnt have to worry too much about being sacked or messing up plays near the end of the game. Well, who am I kidding, its Romo.

Inching Forward

Howdy fantasy footballers!

Before I begin this post I just want to put something out there: I cannot predict the future nor have I ever said I can. This blog is not meant to serve as a aid in betting, making picks, or engaging in similar behavior. Yes scoutPRO and CSA are about fantasy football but the game picks I make does not mean all those affiliated with the company and product think the same thing. I am a blog writer looking to the sports world and expressing my opinions. I may get some game picks right and I may get some game picks wrong, this has nothing to do with our services and product at scoutPRO. If you dont believe me, check out scoutPRO for yourself and you will understand what it is all about. Moving on now. Well there seems to only be one undefeated team in the league now. When I mean undefeated I mean they are devastating teams and leaving teams to ask what even happened after games. But like any sports team, you cant dwell on the past. Teams like the Saints, Texans, Lions, and Dallas are looking at what went wrong while teams like the Pats and Steelers are looking at how to make sure games like that never happen. Winning ugly is still winning I know but there is a very fine line between winning ugly and losing. And while Cam Newton is getting tons of media attention and throwing up crazy stats, its Andy Dalton’s team who has the winning record. Believe it. With Carson Palmer potentially being sent to the Raiders, could this mean Pryor (who becomes eligible this week to play) will sit on the bench? Or does this mean with Campbell out, Pryor could have a shot at playing in the game if Palmer is not able to (or stinks it up). And I hope Tim Tebow is doing everything he can to make sure the Broncos dont lose to a winless Miami team that got manhandled on Monday night to a .500 Jets team. Imagine if he loses this game after he was promoted starter.

Take A Deep Breath

It’s Friday fantasy footballers!

So im sure many of you (atleast some) have probably set you computers on fire and cussed out everyone in your fantasy league because your picks have got you no where and are sitting at a dismal 2-3 in your league. Well, take a deep breath and relax. Its only Week 6. You still have a long way to go before you end up with a subpar 6-10 and swear to never play fantasy football again. The next 3 days are going to be a fun sports weekend. You have the heated NL/AL playoffs underway tonight to determine which two teams will go to the World Series. Tomorrow is college football, right before the BCS rankings are announced so teams will try to play their very best to gain some advantage in the rankings. Look for LSU, ‘Bama, and Wisconsin to score a million points. The game of the weekend has to be either Michigan/Michigan State and Oklahoma State against Texas. Yeah the Oregon/Arizona State game and Baylor/Texas A&M games deserve their credit but in both games have teams that are ranked but really have a lot left to prove and it’s not going to happen this week. On to Sunday. From all the media attention I seem to forget the Panthers are only 1-4. But facing a weak Falcon’s defense, Cam Newton is going to channel his inner-Brady and wrap up his Offensive ROY award this week. Than you have the Rams going against the Packers will which give Rodgers a stat line of 25-28 1000 yards, 8 TDs, and 100 rushing yards, no lie. Buffalo goes against the Giants to prove that the Bills are the best team in the state. But there are three games I am really looking forward in watching: the Texans/Ravens game, the Lions/Niners, and the Pats/everyone in Dallas but Romo. Yeah the Pats dont have the best defense in the league (not even close) but watch Romo still mess up again (sacks, fumbles, and INTs – a hat trick if you will). The Lions games will show if the Lions are still the real deal or if it was some weird illogical mess up in the space/time continuum, but I still think the Lions (Decepticons) will overcome the 49ers even after the Niners pummeled the Bucs last weekend. And the Texans/Ravens game could be a potential playoff game this year if the Texans can make up for all their injuries.

Magical Moments

Hello fantasy footballers!

Every now and than someone or something comes along in the media that melts our hearts and captivates our minds. Mesmerizing and enchanting the Detroit Lions are that special something. No matter who you are, you love the Lions. Even last night my roommate, a die-hard Bears fan, said he was fine with the loss coming from the Lions rather than anyone else in their division. You cannot hate the Lions for any reason. They have done nothing wrong; from being the worst team in NFL history, they are now undefeated and average over 31 points a game (4th best in the NFL). The team has household names in C.Johnson and Stafford. And even though both these players come from rival Georgia schools and probably despised one another in college, they are as explosive and exciting as any team in the league. As for Cutler, I am suprised he still hasn’t broken anything. With a Suh/Fairly/Vanden “I have scary red eyes” Bosch attack almost every play Cutler probably needs to just realize the fact that he is going to get hit a lot and might as well invest in a Tempur-Pedic mattress. Did anyone else notice how Big Ben, injured, threw for 5 TDs, Brady and Welker are playing like its Madden, and the 49ers blew out the Bucs? What is going on the in the league? Every week likes another mystery and another headache setting fantasy lineups. Speaking of lineups:

Boom!

Happy Friday fantasy footballers!

I hope all of you have begun setting your line ups for this week! Dont forget about BYE WEEKS. Those things are silent killers for fantasy teams especially if you have a star player going missing. If you have Tony Romo, even if he isnt playing he’s going to get you some negative points. This is going to be a good week. Why? All the jitters of the season have died out, all of the random elements of injuries and fatigue are wearing off, and now the true struggle of football begins. The Raiders are going to visit Houston. This game will be intense because you have a team trying to make the playoffs going head to head against a team trying to make the playoffs in a division without Manning. Also the Jets/Pats play in which Mark Sanchez will forget he actually plays in the NFL and where Brady goes off for 500 yards again. Green Bay and the Falcons play again after the Packers pummeled the NFC best Falcons last season in the playoffs. Think about it this way. Since last playoffs (last 8 games) Aaron Rodgers has had a 70% completion rate, over 2400 yards, 21 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions. And remember, the Falcons made Tavaris Jackson look like a Pro Bowler last week. We cannot forget about the Eagles who are now playing for redemption (and to actually win) as they go against a 3-1 Bills. I say the Bills over Eagles because of the loss the Bills took last week. I hope this Bills team is not like previous Bills teams and the go on to lose the next 6 games. The best game might be the Bears/Lions game. The Bears are coming off a win against Cam Newton and are looking to find some justice in the NFC. But the perfect Lions are playing their hearts out, especially coming down from 24 points in the third to win it against Romo and his Stars. This is going to be awesome because you have Suh going against an O-Line that could very well be playing JV football. The game will be won in a defensive way and the Lions will barely edge the Bears out thanks to Cutler being sacked 6 times. That’s my call. 6 times.

Shattered Dreams

Welcome fantasy footballers!

What an exciting week for football! I swear there was a moment at Taco Mac when three teams picked off a QB at the exact same time. I kid you not, I was watching three games at once and all of a sudden PICK, PICK, PICK all three teams just crushed the hopes of the other team (Cowboys, Steelers, and Browns). Taco Mac is a fun place to eat and hang out, but come Sunday’s its a warzone. You can never get a table unless you show up at 9 a.m. And all the TVs make things a lot more chaotic when you have hundreds of fans cheering or angered. First off, congrats Lions. From being the losing, disrespected team you are now undefeated and overcame an unprecedented deficit on the road to win against a team that chocked again. If Tony Romo was directly correlated to our economy we would have been in the Great Depression II by now. When your team is up that much and you throw 3 picks to lose the game, it makes you want to scream. But the Lions deserve this win. It shows everyone that they have the talent, skills, and focus and they are finally putting into practice. Megatron has had 8 touchdowns in 4 games. To compare that to other positions, Brees has thrown 10 touchdowns and his job is to throw the ball. The guy that gets paid big bucks to call the plays has only two more touchdown passes than a guy thats always in triple-coverage. Amazing. In other news, the Titans are 3-1. Yes, these guys are 3-1 and Chris Johnson has definitely been MIA for some reason. He had his first 100+ yard rushing game this past weekend against the Browns. The Steelers, Bears, Falcons, and Jets have a worse record. And so do the Eagles who have lost their last three games straight. The Dream is becoming a Nightmare for Andy Reid. They could have won on Sunday but a fumble lost everything for them. Looks like the Eagles have Bird Flu. And Jay Cutler did have more sacks than touchdowns.
